People live for what it’s made of: crunching leaves on the sidewalk, all things made of apples, that whip of chill in the air, the trip down into the basement (or out to your parents house in Jersey) to switch out your closets with all the cold weather clothes, and GREY….seemingly forever, now grey. I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not a huge fan of Fall. I don’t like it because of what it implies, which is the long, cold winter that lies just on the other side of you, Fall. But because this is a blog about couples who are happy and in love, I’ll try to bring it back around. (= If you’re in love and you’ve got someone to cozy in with you, Fall is not so bad. Especially if you’re engaged and you live in the City that is located at the exact Center of the Universe, New York. Seriously, Brooke and Joe could care less about Winter or Fall. They are going to blaze through it along with their super snuggly kitty, Scout, to keep them warm. They are on a countdown – because as soon as the cold weather lifts, it will be time for their New York City Wedding at the Boathouse in Central Park…and I can’t wait! Congrats you two, and thanks for choosing me to capture every single moment. Hugs! ♥♥♥

I promise though, that won’t happen with this batch. I will print these images I took of these soulful people in the rice fields of Bali and hang them on my walls just to remind me – even when life has you bent over, knee-deep stuck in the mud….Step back and look at the big picture. Pause and take a break for something that makes you happy. Dance, Air Guitar, Strike a pose, Strike a NINJA pose, be silly, stick out your tongue, punch the sky, twerk. Show up. Move forward. Grab a friend to do it with you. Take a walk. Laugh. Give thanks. Hug someone. But mostly, just SMILE….not only is it your best accessory, it’s an international language….fabulous hat not included!
click If I showed up to photograph your wedding and you told me that you planned to carry a parasol that was draped in tool and embroidered with the words “I Do” … I’d probably furl a brow, tip my head to the side in confusion. The thing I love about the runway, is it’s not supposed to be literal. At the Reem Acra Show, those parasol’s were the best thing I’d seen all year! In light pink and baby blue – heck YES! I often times do wish today’s modern bride would get more creative with what she wears on her head … just for the walk down the aisle. There are so many amazingly long and dramatic veils out there. Perhaps modern doesn’t always mean simple – dramatic is on it’s way back in! xo
https://www.pathwaysmagazineonline.com/vbq0qh5c2 It was less than a week before Melissa’s wedding, and I’m not going to lie – I asked her a bold question….”have you thought about rescheduling???” You see, Hurricane Sandy was due to strike within 24 hours and most flights into New York had been cancelled for the following week. Many of the out-of-towners were finding it hard to re-book flights, given the questionable circumstances. It was NOT the ideal situation for a bride to be in the last few days before her BIG DAY! But you know what? Melissa and Graham said, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! And that’s how I felt too! I wasn’t about to let a hurricane come between me and my bride and groom! That’s not to say that Sandy didn’t do some significant damage….my usual diggs (downtown) were flooded and without power….if not for the kindness and generosity of our former clients/new best friends, Rachel and Mario, we might not have been able to make this thing happen….
When there was no power – somehow they had some. When there were no cabs – they had enough gas to get us there. When I needed a dog-free home for Panther to stay – Rachel even arranged for that! And at the end of the day when we returned back to their place, they had a cold glass of Blush and a smile and a hug to give. The perfect ending to what turned out to be, the perfect day (=

One of my favorite shows to photograph was Romona Keveza. {Wasn’t I just talking about a gold wedding dress???} Romona featured her Evening Line and Couture Bridal Collection….rich with Gold and Jewel Tones, big juicy red lips and a sassy REVERSE french manicure. The Library at the St. Regis set the perfect tone, a truly SOPHISTICATED affair.
